Your 3D Printing Questions Answered

  • What 3D printing technologies do you use?

We primarily use FDM techniques. FDM builds durable, functional parts layer by layer with thermoplastic filaments,

  • Which materials are available for printing?

    OUR MATERIALS: SUSTAINABLE & SPECIALIZED

At 3xtraorDnry Prints, we believe that high-quality customization shouldn't come at the expense of the planet. We carefully select our filament library to offer the perfect balance of durability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.

Here is a breakdown of what goes into your custom product:

    1. PLA (The Eco-Friendly Standard)

What is it? Polylactic Acid (PLA) is a biodegradable thermoplastic derived from renewable resources like cornstarch, tapioca roots, or sugarcane rather than petroleum. It is non-toxic and odorless during production.

The Benefit: It offers incredible detail and vibrant color options while being the most environmentally friendly option on the market.

Best Use Case: Indoor display items that require high resolution, such as our Lithophanes, Mr. 3xtra Figures, and Collectibles.

    2. PETG (The Recyclable Workhorse)

What is it? Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol. This is a modified version of the plastic used in water bottles and is 100% recyclable.

The Benefit: PETG bridges the gap between eco-friendliness and industrial strength. It is water-resistant, chemical-resistant, and can handle higher temperatures than PLA.

Best Use Case: Functional items that might get bumped or exposed to mild heat, such as Lighter Cases or keychains that take daily abuse.

    3. ASA (The Outdoor Shield)

What is it? Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate. While a synthetic polymer, its "eco-friendly" value lies in its extreme longevity.

The Benefit: ASA is UV-resistant and weather-proof. Unlike other plastics that turn yellow or brittle in the sun, ASA lasts for years. This durability reduces waste by ensuring you only need to buy the product once.

Best Use Case: Products exposed to direct sunlight and weather, specifically the 3xtraorDnry Homes Address Plaques.

    4. TPU (The Flexible Rubber)

What is it? Thermoplastic Polyurethane. This is a flexible, rubber-like plastic that is extremely resistant to abrasion.

The Benefit: It doesn't break; it bends. Its ability to absorb shock makes it incredibly long-lasting, preventing the need for replacements due to drops or cracks.

Best Use Case: Parts that need "squish" or grip, such as protective bumpers, gaskets, or wearable accessories.

  • How do I provide my personalization details for a custom order?

    How to Customize Your Order

For our highly personalized items (like the MetroCard, House Numbers, NFC Lithophane, and Business Cards), all customization is completed directly on the product page using our interactive design tools.

Please follow this simple 3-step process:

Step 1: Select Your Colors (Interactive Swatches)

Use the visual color picker at the top of the customization section.

Select: Click the color swatches to fill the selection slots (Color 1 – Color 4). The first color is always free.

Identify: Hover over any swatch to reveal the specific color name.

Edit: Click a filled slot to remove a selection if you need to change the order.

Step 2: Copy Selection & Choose Placement Tier

    Base Only (1 Color): $0.00

    Base + Inlay / Artwork (2 Colors): +$3.00

NFC Products: Paste your full, working URL link in the designated box.

Notes: Add specific text (e.g., Station Name, House Number) or design preferences here.

  • What happens if I FORGET SOMETHING DURING THE customization PROCESS?

    Need to Make a Change?

If you need to make a correction or provide an update to the customization details you submitted with your order, please email us within 24 hours at: 3XTRAORDNRYPRINTS+CHAT@GMAIL.COM.

Please include your Order Number in the subject line and clearly state the updated information in your email.

Missing Information: If our team finds that any necessary files or details are missing from your order, we will reach out to the email address you used at checkout to request the information. Please note that this may result in a delay in the production of your order.

  • Can I see a preview or mock-up of my custom item before you make it?

To ensure we can create and ship your unique 3xtraorDnry Prints item as efficiently as possible, we currently do not offer a digital mock-up service.

We create your product exactly as specified in the "Choose Custom Color," "Custom Text/Link," and "Upload File" fields on the product page. Please double-check all text, links, and selections for accuracy before adding the item to your cart.

  • How should I care for my 3D printed items?

Our products are built to be durable, but to keep them looking their best, we recommend simple care:

Avoid leaving items in extremely hot environments, like the dashboard of a car in direct sunlight, as high temperatures can cause the material to warp.

To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. Do not submerge electronic items like the Mr. 3xtra Mini Billboard.

  • Why are sales final on personalized items?

Our custom products are created uniquely for you. Whether it is your specific address on a 3xtra Ordinary Homes Door # Plaque, your digital profile on a Tap Business Card, or your cherished photo on a 3xtraordnry Moments Custom Lithophane, these items are permanently altered to your specifications and cannot be restocked or resold.

For this reason, all sales on personalized products are final unless the item arrives damaged or there is a mistake on our part.

  • How long will it take to make and ship my order?

Every item at 3xtraoDnry Prints is made-to-order.

Production Time: Please allow [e.g., 3-7 business days] for us to print, assemble, and package your order. More complex items involving electronics or multi-material prints may take slightly longer.

Shipping Time: After production, your order will be shipped via the method you select at checkout. You will receive a tracking number via email as soon as it's on its way.

  • Why is the fit of my lighter case a little tight (or loose)?

Our lighter cases are precision-designed to fit the standard BIC® Classic Lighter (J26 Maxi). However, BIC's own manufacturing process has minor variations, and the thickness of the decorative plastic wrap on the lighter can also affect the fit.

If the fit is too tight: Often, carefully removing the plastic wrap from the BIC® lighter is all that's needed for a perfect slide.

Pro Tip: For a guaranteed fit every time, we recommend taking your 3xtraoDnry Prints case with you when you buy a new lighter so you can test it in-store.

  • WHAT IS THE 3XP REMAKE PROGRAM?

    3XP REMAKE PROGRAM (14-Day Guarantee)

Accordion Content: The 3XP Remake Program is our quality guarantee designed to give you complete peace of mind. To ensure efficient service for all customers, this program operates on a strict 14-day window.

Coverage & Timeframe: All requests for remakes or returns must be initiated within 14 days upon arrival (based on the tracking delivery date). This policy covers two specific situations:

    1. Shipping Damage / Arrival Defects:

What this is: Items that are broken in transit or arrive with an obvious functional defect (e.g., an NFC tag that doesn't scan).

Action: Inspect your package immediately. If you see damage, report it within the 14-day window.

    2. Manufacturing Defects:

What this is: Defects in workmanship that are not caused by user error or accidental drops (e.g., layer separation or structural weakness).

Action: If a quality issue arises within the first two weeks of use, contact us immediately to initiate a remake.

Important: We are unable to process any claims for returns, remakes, or exchanges once this 14-day period has passed.

  • WHATS COVERED UNDER THE REMAKE PROGRAM?

    Covered:

    Items broken during shipping.

Functional defects (e.g., NFC tag doesn't read, parts don't fit together).

Major print failures (e.g., significant layer separation, warping, or missing parts).

    Not Covered (Exclusions):

Accidental damage (e.g., dropping the item, spilling liquid on it).

Environmental damage (e.g., leaving a PLA print in a hot car, causing it to warp).

Normal wear and tear, such as minor scratches from use.

Minor cosmetic artifacts inherent to 3D printing (e.g., slight stringing, visible layer lines) that don't affect function.

Customer regret (e.g., deciding you don't like the color you chose, or providing a low-quality photo for a lithophane).
